Our coaches determine group placement, based on age AND ability. Although this is considered to be a “competitive sport”, our goal has always been for the students to have fun as well as boost their self-confidence and socializing skills.
3.
Our class schedules for the 2010-2011 season will be determined after registration by the coaches based on registration results and availability of the coaches.
·
Extra practices may be called as we approach our Competition Season (February – June 2011)
·
Competitions are held on Saturday mornings during the season at various locations throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. If there is a problem please let us know at least four (4) weeks prior to the competition.
·
In order for us to participate in the competitions we need the parents’/students’ dedication at both the practices and the competitions. Therefore, we will have Parent communications prior to the start of the competition season.
·
PRACTICE ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!!!
o
You must be at all practices, unless prior notification to the coach is accepted, or you will not be able to compete with the team at the next competition.
o
Three (3) missed practices could result in a student not being allowed to compete with the team.
o
If a student is absent at the practice immediately prior to a competition, without the coach’s permission, the student will not be allowed to compete in that particular competition.
o
Practice sessions will be closed to admittance to late arrivals who have not already spoken with the coach – Be on time!
4.
PROPER ATTIRE for the practice sessions include:
·
Practice attire includes shorts/sweats/leotards/t-shirts/tennis shoes
o
No jeans, skirts, dresses, boots etc
·
Long hair should be pulled up and away from your face
·
Due to the close proximity with one another in classes and competitions, it is important to remember the need for good personal hygiene (i.e. regular bathing and/or deodorant).
5.
Since we are given the privilege of using Calverton Elementary and Martin Luther King Middle Schools’ facilities for our practices, there are certain rules we need to follow:
·
The “practice room” is open to participants of the current class only. NO PARENTS, SIBLINGS OR FRIENDS ARE ALLOWED IN THE PRACTICE ROOM.
·
Due to safely regulations of the school, unsupervised children in the building, after school hours is a violation of our agreement with the school. We reserve the right to alert the authorities if your child is not picked up within fifteen (15) minutes of the end of practice.
6.
During practice we expect the students to be respectful of the coaches and fellow students. Should behavioral problems become an issue, parents will be contacted. The coaches reserve the right to excuse any student from practice and/or competition(s) and/or the Corps should the behavioral problems continue.
7.
PARENTS AND/OR GUARDIANS: We are a volunteer organization and we need your support and assistance to make this Corps function properly. We know that many of you will have suggestions and ideas and we welcome those, but we also need your help in putting those ideas in practice.
